The CMDC has made great progress with its piping project. Funding is coming along as planned. In addition to our NRCS Grants totaling $1,045,000 we have $89,000 in CWCB grants with a possibility of a little more from the Colorado River District. As of January 21 we have borrowed $204,323 from our CWCB loan. We anticipate paying back most of that from the NRCS grants this Spring. The project will require continued construction loans and paybacks as it proceeds.
Almost half the piping project is complete at the time of this writing. The project started just northwest of the corner of Q25 Rd and 2600 Rd. It now extends almost 2 miles south and is approaching Peach Rd. 5850 feet of 24-inch pipe, 1700 feet of 18-inch pipe and 3 distribution boxes are in place. The massive entry structure is almost complete. Steel work for completion of the entry box is awaiting a subcontractor’s attention. Approximately 600 truckloads of dirt have been hauled. The supervising engineer has not signed off any work until steel work has been completed. There is also a small amount of work with fencing yet to do as well as clean-up when conditions will allow.
With the current snow accumulation outlook (see below), there may be an extended working period in the spring before irrigation becomes available. That creates the possibility of getting the work done this spring. However, hopefully, there will be early water, and a break in work until this fall. Fall this year is when our original plan had anticipated completion.
